Best Online Program for LPN to RN or BSN ... ?

Published

Hello all,

I was recently visited (last week) by a representative from the College Network. They suggested I take a track through Excelsior College as it was LPN -> RN and could be completed in about a year. The only issue is that Clinicals must be taken at a remote location (and it's apparently like a Pratical Exam). After doing some reading, it seems that College Network is just a Publishing Company that will help me to get enrolled in Excelsior while selling me a bunch of Study Guides to help me pass their courses.

All of that being said, I am looking for some suggestions from those who have a little more experience in these matters than I do. What I am looking for is:

- A Completely Online Solution

- LPN -> RN First as this seems to be the quickest route. (is ASN = RN?)

- Something that will allow me to pursue an RN -> MSN track afterwards.

- Local Clinicals would be AWESOME instead of a remote / practical solution.

- FL BON and NLNAC Approved

It seems that the Chancellors Study Guides are preferred to those by The College Network. In all cases, it seems like eBay or Half.com is the place to find these things if you need them. I also have all of my LPN books as well as the ATI books for NCLEX-PN.

Right now, it seems like the only options are:

Excelsior

Regents

Indiana State (though College Network tells me this isn't accredited??)

Deaconess

The only one of those that has Local Clinicals is Indiana State though, and they might not be accredited.

Suggestions, thoughts, comments, etc, would be greatly appreciated! ;)

Thanks!

Before you consider any program that does not a traditional curriculum, check with your Board of Nursing to make sure that the program is accepted in your state. These rulings are changing all of the time, so check with the BON first, before you sign on the dotted line.

Thank you! It's on my list of things to do for tomorrow. From my searches and readings, it appears that my state (FL) accepts Online/Non-traditional curriculums including Excelsior, Regents, Indiana State, and Deaconess. I want to call tomorrow though to make sure I have the most up-to-date information. ;)
