This might be slightly off topic, but which hospital would you recommend most to a first time mother who is low risk?
I'm a nursing student and was thinking about depaul's birthing center but a nurse friend recommended going with an OBGYN instead of a CNM. Another doctor who works at depaul was fairly patronizing about it, saying they "have birth in fields over there..you don't want that"
I'm just wondering which hospitals you would recommend to a friend, given your experiences with the hospitals in the area. Everyone knows that the nurses know everything about a hospital and it's policies/doctors, so I wanted to see what you fine ladies and gents think about the L&D wards in the area! :heartbeat
My daughter just had her first baby in Jan at Chesapeake Regional Hospital. The birthcenter is very nice and the nurses were awesome!! I myself gave birth to said daughter at virginia beach general. Beach General is also a great hospital as well.
Chesapeake Regional is by far one of the best. Had my daughter there and the level of care there was outstanding. Did not meet one disgruntled staff member. Was very happy I had my baby there.
My wife and I had both kids at Chesapeake General. We also had a Midwife who was awesome, but was on vacation for both births:P OB delivered babies, nurses were great and my wife was very well taken care of.
