Hey, this is for my psych class which requires me to conduct an informal survey of how long benzodiazepines are to be prescribed specifically for panic disorder. So, can anyone share. Any help is appreciated

since only md's and np's prescribe, general nurses would not have prescribing info.

I'm sure you have your answer by now I just wanted to reply because I am in Psych as well. It is my understanding that Benzodiazepines are given for the immediate relief of anxiety symptoms or panic disorders also for other conditions like insomnia seizure disorders or muscle spasms. Typically they are prescribed for a brief time (due to their potential for physical dependence) until other drug therapies such as SSRI's can begin to take affect. Good luck in your research.
