Join AORN as a student member now (AORN - Association of periOperative Registered Nurses), its relatively inexpensive and you get a lot of great resources (monthly journal, tons of great resources at their website, networking via ORNurseLink.org to name a few). Then look for facilities that offer the AORN Periop 101 program and apply to them. Best of luck to you!!!

Graduate in May 2011, interested in only OR. I am getting my ADN, but getting my BSN shortly after I graduate. Currently working in medical records at a suburban hospital. I currently have a 3.25 in my nursing courses, and a bachelors in history with a gpa of 3.5. I am willing to go anywhere in the country to get my OR training. Anyone have any suggestions on what hospitals have good internship programs? I am assuming applying for these programs should be done in Jan./Feb.? Thanks for any info you can provide.
