Can anyone help?
I'm seriously considering moving from Ontario, Canada to Florida. I have family in the St.Petersburg area and I know Bayfront Medical Center is hiring. I have 12 years expeience as an RN . 2 years in a Level I Trauma Ceter (Galveston Texas - UTMB).4 years in Recovery Room and the last 5 years in the Operating Room - circulating and scrubbing.
My questions are - what's it like working at Bayfront in St.Petersburg?
Anyone know what I might get paid per hour - I'm making almost $42/hour now + lots of OT.
What is St.Petersburg like to live in? - I know it only as a tourist.
House price? I'm not looking for waterfront.
Any advice would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks

Bayfront is a L2 trauma center in downtown St.Pete. It's a very busy place. St. pete is a nice town, lots to do, nice weather 24/7 x 365. Real estate is inexpensive, no state income tax in FL. Pay may be lower than you get now, but tax structure is different. It's worth looking in to.

Hello fellow Canadian! I am moving to St. Pete's the end of this month. I took a 13 week travel position there at All Children's Hospital. I am from Toronto, Ontario and have been travel nursing for about 2 years here in the USA. The pay is lower than some of the northern states but not much once I figure in the extras. Plus there is no state income tax so your bring home is higher. I will check back and update once I am there for a bit and can give a better idea of what it is like to live there. I too have only visited in the past but loved it then so hoping I will this time.

I lived in Tampa Bay for 25 years and can tell you your hourly rate will be less but your take home will be more, your lifestyle much improved and you can enjoy whatever hobbies or interests you have for 12 months. Once I graduate I am going back.

Another option... Baycare System has a hospital in St. Pete. They also have a mobile pool program and they will provide your housing and a higher pay rate . It may be a good option if you are going to be relocating. They will sign up to 6 month contracts and of course you can change to full time after that, but then you wouldn't get the housing anymore. If you want any more info regarding the mobile pool you can PM me, I have some contact info for the pool manager and she would be happy to talk to you.... :)

I know this is an old post but I am also looking into moving back to St. Pete. I know I will probably take a pay cut but I am almost ok with it because of all the other things I can enjoy, like life. So if you are still have connections with the pool manager, I am interested. I currently work on the neuro/stroke unit and floated to other med/surg/tele floors. Thank you for your time. =)
