Bay Area Community Colleges...which program is the best?

Published

Hello Everyone,

I am currently attending Chabot and am doing my pre-req coursework. I want to know which College offers a better nursing program. Ohlone, Chabot or DeAnza? I'm just starting out with my Pre-reqs for nursing so please give me as much information as you can. It would be greatly appreciated. Also, in the bay area...is there a huge diffrence between jobs for ASN and BSN? Any response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The best one is....the one you can get into. Really, you are better off applying to all of them, at least a couple. Go to each information session and find out what exactly you need to do to apply. You will probably have to take the standardized math and English tests at each one.

You should also look into SJSU or Cal State East Bay if you are wanting a BSN program. There is no difference between jobs with a ADN or BSN. Of course every single person on these boards will tell you their preference (mine happens to be a BSN) Why not go for the higher degree, is my line of thinking. Good luck.

youknowwho is absolutely right. I just graduated from the LVN program at Mission College in Santa Clara. I did my RN prereqs at DeAnza, and applied to all the RN and LVN programs in the area. The first one I got into was Mission, and even though it's an LVN program, I'm moving right into a 30 unit RN bridge and BSN after that. There are so few spaces in each school, you really do need to apply to everything that is within an acceptable commute for you. Good Luck!
