Are there anyone applying for the spring 2018 at BSHP in San Antonio?

All I have to do is just to wait till next week! Hope I can get it(:

From what they told me yesterday, yes we need to have our books for first semester, but only buy for first semester because sometimes the books change or the editions change. I probably will buy mine used unless there is a reason to buy mine new (sometimes there are codes to online coursework, etc). As a former nursing student, I can attest to hanging on to your textbooks. They definitely do come in handy while studying for NCLEX and also for future reference too. I've used my Nursing drug guide many times.

Here are comments from a student in a previous group of students on a different post:

"I would not rent, you need several of the books multiple semesters. Amazon had the overall best prices. New or used, does not matter. The Mosby Skills videos can be found online for free. Oh, and you use Potter & Perry, Ackley, Davis and Lemone the first 8 weeks. And Do Not buy the Potter & Perry Study guide used. or digital, get a new, hard copy."

Hi everyone! New to this thread but I'll be attending the RN day program in the spring! Went to processing day a few days ago and am not looking forward to all the costs 😩 excited to meet y'all!

Hello Mamawags! I bought all my books yesterday and saved a ton of money by purchasing used on Amazon. I ended up getting everything (except the Mosby Skills video which a former student said not to bother buying) for $280. I was pleasantly surprised because I was calculating $600.

@MeredithDavis Did you get medical dictionary? It is the last one on the book list.

@Ameri0927 - I didn't get the dictionary. I have heard mixed things about needing that. I will just get it later if it is needed.

Quick question. Does anyone know what supplies are needed for clinicals? I know for sure stethoscope, penlight and bandage scissors. Anything else??

I think they will let us know at student success day. I remember them saying they would take orders for supplies. The to buy list keeps growing. Oh my.

I'm grateful that the scrubs can come from anywhere. With my LVN program we had to buy a nurse pack and uniform scrubs from a specific uniform store. I remember spending over $500 on supplies and uniforms, some of which we never ended up using.
