Ballpark pay rate for experienced ER RN's in Atlanta

Hi All,

I've noticed that it seems like no one likes to answer questions about pay rates, but I still have to ask. I now have a full yr of nursing experience (in the ER). A soon-to-be former co-worker of mine just got a position in an ER in the city (Atlanta) paying $12 more that she's making now, with just 7mths ER experience (that's all her RN experience by the way). Now, I know that in general, your first job is always your lowest paying one because new grads aren't in a position to fuss, and really are just happy to not be the one who didn't get a job. What do hospitals in the city generally pay with experience? Is a $12 jump normal? The hospital we work at is outside the perimeter, but we started at $22+ just out of school. I just want to be aware of my surroundings/ options. i would really appreciate ur response, even if its just to say you have no idea :) thanks in advance!

One reason that you won't get alot of responses here is because it's very hard to make generalities. Even the websites that claim to offer "average salary" rates for individual cities can be wildly off. There are just too many variables in a salary equation. I have always wondered why people who really have a burning desire to know the salary scale for any given city don't just call the hospitals located there and request that information. The nurse recruiter in HR will always (at least in my experience) freely give you the information.

Having said that, you will likely get more responses if you post your question in the Georgia forum.

I work in the Metro Atlanta Area, have worked in downtown Atlanta and can give you lots of information about all the hospitals and pay around here, message me privately and I'll help you out.
