That's a claim, yes, but I do have to wonder at the motives of the inventor chiming in now as he now has a new product he's trying to sell. Normothermia during surgery is quite necessary, and as for using the blankets, my OR has not seen any kind of a spike in infections related to the use of forced air warming (based on the one specialty where surgeons use to not use them since they were actually part of the sterile field but now are indeed using them). I'd need some peer reviewed studies that prove beyond doubt that the risks outweigh the benefits.
