Baby hyperventilating?

My baby is almost 5 months old. She has had a couple crying spells where it almost seems like she's hyperventilating (for lack of a better discription). She has only done it a few times, but it is only in exteme cases... like when she gets her shots, or if she hurt herself. This morning I woke up to the same noise on the baby monitor. She was sleeping, but doing the same breathing pattern as if she was trying to catch her breath. Everything else seemed normal. After she woke up, we had a normal day. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Is this something I should be concerned with? Was it just a dream? I have no idea what caused this, and I am somewhat concerned.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Hello xoangel and welcome Allnurses!

While I can understand your concern about your baby, it is best that you address your concerns to the baby's pediatrician. He or she will be better able to give you an answer after a careful examination.

Good luck.
