Hi reggie076,

I am talking to an Aya Healthcare Recruiter also and their pay seems a bit low. I am new to travel nursing, looking to take my first assigmnent this summer (July 2012), so I don't have much experience in this area, but those are my two cents. I am looking into another travel agency for comparison and talking with some of my travel nursing buddies for their thoughts on the matter. I hope this helps you out. Good Luck!!!

Hello! I recently started traveling and I love it. I was looking at a few different agencies and went with the one I'm with now, mainly because of my recruiter. She's awesome! Plus, the pay was good compared to others. Who your recruiter is can make a big difference. Contact me at [email protected] for more details. I can recommend the recruiter I have. :-)

I am looking into signing and talking with them. I read reviews on them back in 2010 on here and they seem really bad. Has anyone had recent experience with them and have any thoughts, comments? I am really stressed out and some thoughts from other nurses will help me out. Thanks!

Its a bit late to help you but I am posting because I want to just make RNs aware of my experience. Firstly I started a contract with AYA and all seemed well, two days into orientation I was told by the hospital that there was a problem, they needed me on days I was not available (something I had told AYA before looking at contracts, and something AYA told me the hospital knew.) I turned down other work because, this my first contract would be close enough to home to commute! I called the recruiter all afternoon to see if I was going back to the facility the next day.... finally had to call their 'emergency line' to get some one to tell me what was going on.

Then a VP at the company told me they were sorry and he would make it right, and he at first seemed very genuine. He offered me per diem locally but working tele now ICU and because longterm I might want to work at the facility a large trauma one, I declined because signing would have excluded me from working for the facility as an employee for a year after working for them through AYA.

Then I get a call one night saying they can't pay me because they didn't hear back from the Hospital that canceled. I stated that wasn't acceptable and the person on the phone identified themselves as the Operations Manager, she told me she didn't knwo why I was upset. I pointed out I was not working as a traveller because the Hospital had canceled, and at this point I believe the hospital, not AYA, stating they didn't know about availability issues. I told her she was the fifth person I had spoken to at AYA, and I was fed up, out thousands in salary over this failed contract and now she was saying she wouldn't pay me!

When I told her I wanted my concerns forwarded to the CEO, she told me 'the CEO doesn't talk to nurses!'

I don't work for a company that doesn't communicate, with staff or facilities, that doesn't pay, and neither do I work for a company that makes its money off RNs, but whose CEO won't speak to us!

I can't say your experience will be the same, but please be careful in dealing with this company. I am out money and time and honestly, don't believe anything they have told me in the last few weeks.
