Average monthly pay for nurse in south Florida? Jupiter/west palm area

U.S.A. Florida

Hello, my boyfriend and I are moving from NY to Jupiter soon. I graduated with my BSN in NY, I was blessed with a job 1 month after graduation. I work nights on a med surg unit making $44 an hour, bring home around $4,400 a month. We have been living comfortably in NY......I heard the pay is much less in Florida, can you please tell me around how much an RN with 1 year acute care experience can bring home around monthly? We are moving to Jupiter, it s more expensive area, rent is around $1,300 for a 1 bedroom. I'm a little worried. Any insight would help

I'm sorry to disappoint you but the salary in Florida is way less than NY. I also graduated from NY and moved to Florida. The salary difference was a huge shock when I came. I knew the salary was less but not so significantly less. I started off at my hospital making 21 with 3 years of nursing experience. It sucks but what can you do. You may make more depending on which hospital you work though, not sure how much more. Hope this helps you a little. Oh and welcome to the sunshine state, good choice.

I would suggest mid-$20s per hour (without differential). When I worked in Florida (gulf coast), my take home was about $2500-$2800 a month. It might be more for you, as Jupiter is a more expensive area than where I was.

Cost of living in general is lower in Florida, though, so that helps.
