I am a registered nurse in Brisbane and am looking at heading to the UK for work. I was wondering mostly about the nursing recruitment agencies and if anyone has any ideas about which are the best ones to go with for working over there. I am not really looking at London, more Nottingham as I have a friend there. Thanks for any help.

I have been in the UK nearly 2 years, having come from New Zealand. I didnt come over with an agency, and wouldnt really recommend you do unless you have to in order to get your visa. Luckily I had a UK passport, and found a job in a private hospital once I arrived.
If you do need a visa however, I would recommend Firstpoint healthcare as I am working with them at the the moment, and have found them helpful, professional, and offering good payrates. They have an office in Oz you could contact, or check out their website.
I would suggest you apply for your NMC registration yourself as soon as you can, if not already, as it did take 8 months for mine to come through.
Good luck

G'day All,
I was wondering how different Australian and UK qualifications were in terms of the NMC requirements, our nursing council seems to feel that they are similar, and states that they accept UK qualifications almost automatically, but the NMC seems much less obliging. Any ideas/input?
Thanks, Ferret
