Australian trained nurse, UK citizen

Published

Hi all,

I think this is a topic much discussed but here goes:

I am a UK citizen but made the ridiculous decision to study for my bachelor of nursing in Australia. I graduated 6 months ago and have just started working part time. I am aware of the NMC registration process for internationally trained nurses, but would like some feedback from those who have/are going through it. How long does it take? What evidence of practice is required? Is the whole process worth doing given the cost and the reduced pay rate in the UK?

I am starting to think the whole process is going to take a very long time and I still need to gain enough experience before I can even begin the application process, so I'm wondering whether to abandon nursing altogether so I can go back to the UK sooner...

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

There is a post in here that should be easy to find and they too was a UKC who trained in Australia
