Hello! I’m an American soon-to-be accelerated Master’s of Nursing student at The University of Melbourne in Australia. I’m struggling HARD to confirm whether I’ll be able to get licensed in California after my studies.
Anyone have any info? I’ve been tossed back and fourth between the nursing boards and the university. Essentially, if I can pass the NCLEX after school, it appears that I’m all good?
Any information would be appreciated!
Hi everyone! I'm doing things a bit backwards LOL. I'm from California and about to start a Bachelor of Nursing program in Australia. I chose Australia for the cultural experience and the chance to see how their healthcare system compares to ours. Plus, it's a bit more affordable and easier to get started there and I've always had an adventurous spirit!
I've been trying to figure out how to bridge the education hour gap for when I eventually return to California. I've reviewed the California Board of Nursing guidelines, but I'm not entirely sure how the program hours translate. If it's a one to one hour conversion, it looks like I may need to take some additional classes.
I'd love to see process notes or experiences from nurses who were educated in Australia and transitioned to practice in California. Every time I try to look it up, I mostly find visa information, which isn't quite what I'm after. This is the first thread I've come across that actually discusses the education hours!
Thank you for the info and I look forward to and appreciate any advice. I'll also post about my experience but that'll be further down the road.Â
