Australian nurse moving to California - help!

Published

Hi,

I hoping to get some info on resources for nurses who have tried (and in my case recently failed) to get permission to sit the NCLEX in California.

My husband is American and we're in the process of obtaining my green card. Assuming that goes well, where can I take a single course to make up for my apparent lack of training in Obstetrics?

Also, is there an appeals process to the decision made by the CBN?

Any help would be great.

Has anyone out there had similar issues and what did you do!?

Thanks in advance.

I doubt you can appeal the decision made by the BRN as your training needs to match the US training and both clinical and theory hours are required

Are you still in Australia? I would check with the CA BRN to see which courses you can take in Australia that would meet the theory and clinical hours in OB. If you did that here it might cost you a lot of money because you'd be considered an international student if you go through the JC or university level. If you're still in Australia I'd attempt to do it there but check with CA BRN first. Good Luck
