Hi Aussienurse 123,
My name is Ann and I recently completed my bachelors degree in nursing from Australian Catholic University. While reviewing my options in the US, I came across your post.
After reviewing your post, I was hoping if you had any advice or share your thoughts on what would be an ideal option. I see that even with your work experience in AUS, you had a difficult time getting approval of NCLEX.
I was thinking about taking the Credentials evaluations but due to differences in course, we did not go in depth about Maternal/Infant health, which will give me an issue and the $750 fee that I have to pay will be a waste.
I have been trying to reach so many people to find the options to complete hours but I haven't able to find one. Do you have any idea where will I be able to do those Course (maternity/Peds)? Please, let me know your thoughts.
Regards,
Ann
One thing Aussie nurses need to understand..... AUSTRALIAN WORK/ EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE IS COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT. The USA will only look at your education and academic only- NO EXCEPTION. You could be a qualified RN who has worked in peds for 20 years- this will not be acceptable if you never did a peds placement at UNI. You will be peds deficient in your CGFNS report

Hi there, I'm an Aussie nurse going through the process of registering in California. I already have my New York registration and have worked there for a couple of years. I've come to a halt as Cali board of nursing have requested more education hours in pediatrics and maternity. I've seen this discussed on this forum before but all posts date back to 2012. Just wondering if anyone has been through the process of re-education in these areas or was able to avoid it? Where did you do it, how much did it cost etc. I've contacted a couple of LA-based universities and am struggling to find one that offers these subjects on their own.
Very disappointed that after passing the NCLEX and working in a New York hospital that California would still require this. Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been through or knows anything about this.
