Austin community college

Published

Hello friends,

I would like information from either ex or current students of Austin community college, LVN program. I have a bachelors in business administration, but Im going through the Lvn route due to family, financial and 'waiting list' issues. I know I might be able to bridge faster after my Lvn. Ill rather do this due to the fact that I have three children, dont have family living in austin, might have to pay for childcare out of my loans........ need I go on?. I am married, but hubby needs to work and pay the bills while im in school. He is a nurse also, so I might get some academic help from him. Please, Please, I need as much advice as I can get especially what I neeed to do before getting into the school. I know I need to take about three prereqs, the compass test. Is there anything else I need to know. All advice is appreciated.God bless and thanks in advance.:nurse::up:

You need to finish all of your prerequisites and co-requisites before entering lvn school. The reason being is that Acc only give you a year to bridge after you graduate from lvn school. The prereqs and coreqs to become a rn takes 2 years to finish. So, if you are not finished with all of your requisites you will not have enough time to bridge over within one year, hope I could help. If you go the lvn route and get directly in to the adn program through a bridge your schooling will only be 3 months longer if you were to go the "normal route".

You might also take a look at doing an accelerated adn course with Acc since you already have your bachelors.

Thanks so much .

I know the accelerated option seems reasonable since I have a bachelors. But im a little scared. Im looking into texas tech. I just need to be a positive thinker, and be determined that I can do it. Yhanks so much for responding.:)

Your welcome. Most people get their bachelors in nursing through Texas tech online while they are working with their adn degree. You can do anything you put your mind to and put all your effort into. You are the only person that is going to stop yourself from what you want to do. I'm trying to become a crna and failure is not on the table as an option. Their is nothing to be scared of believe me.
