Aussie RN to California RN

Published

Hi Everybody,

I am an Australian RN wanting to get registered and nurse in California (San Fran).

I have sent my application off and recieved a letter back from the State Board of California Nusing asking for my nursing roster and class schudule. (I had a company CGFNS complie this information but some hours for certain topics are missing - due to my UNI not providing which I think means I have not done or have not done according to the requirments for the Board)).

I was wondering if anybody had information on the EXACT hours required for all areas/subjects of the California RN application. What the areas/subjects are?

What hours are required for both theory and practial.

I think I may be lacking in pharmacology and maternity.

I have a feeling that I may need to do some further study/practial hours (even though I have been working as a registered nurse in Australia for 7 + years).

Is there somewhere I can get the excact breakdown of hours required. I can't find this inofrmation anywhere on the baords' website.

Thankyou so much in advance,

Bridgid.

I moved your post to Nurse registration there are many here with your same questions. The educational standard in the US is a generalist education. Maternal child, Peds, Adult Medsurg, Geriatric, community nursing, and Labor and delivery. California is a stickler about that and a stickler about concurrent clinical and theory.
