AUHS Long Beach

Does anyone have any information about this school? Accreditation? Tuition?

Thanks!

AUHS has white students--AND minority students. If somebody didn't get accepted, it wasn't their color. Their advertising says they focus on minority students. Doesn't say no whites. That's just a goofy thing to say.

By the way, the tuition is only about $30,000 a year. They have 4 Quarters, so that cost is for about 36 credits. As far as private schools go, that is actually below the average I've seen for private schools, and below the out-of-state tutition at lots of state schools. For a 12 credit load, that comes to under $850 a credit hour. I checked on a state school in Colorado (yay skiing!). Their out-of-state tuition was way higher than that! So for a private school in California, pretty much average.

AUHS is new--only graduated 1 class so far. All but 1 passed NCLEX and got good jobs. Better pass rate than the national average.

DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL!!! i am currently a nursing student here and its not worth spending all your money. The administration are never considerate about their students. Each unit is $542.19 and each quarter you'll be taking about 15 units for 10 quarters. With the high amount of tuition you would think that they have good loan options, but they dont. The only company we utilize is sallie mae. We are not affiliated with any other loan companies like most other schools are. They don't have CCNE accreditation so basically our credits wont transfer. So if we ever decided to go for a masters program more than likely we wont get accepted. On top of all the tuition that we pay, we have to pay for other stuff like ATI. ATI is a supplemental tool that will supposedly help us with our NCLEX exams, but i dont feel it works. My class paid around $500 for it but i believe now they are charging about $1000. I would rather much spend my money on a kaplan review. Another thing about this school i dont like is that they change their rules all the time. They newly just implemented a policy that we must pass our exit exam with a 90% or we cannot graduate. 90% is a little extreme. There is a high turn over rate of faculty and staff which obviously means that their must be something wrong with administration. Also, a lot of good instructors have left because they are also fed up with the school. Although we may have good instructors now, they dont compare to the good ones that we had before. So after saying all this...let me see it again...DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL!!!

What part of "private school means you pay higher tuition" don't you get? If you think your school is so bad, quit and go somewhere else--if you can get into any other school that is. Maybe nobody else will want a complainer like you.

Oh! Better check to see if the other school you go to requires ATI. Lots of California schools are requiring it now.

Does anyone go tot his school?

Current student please reply. I would like to know how the tests are and if the professors prepare students well or is it mostly independent study. The 90% pass requirement for the exit exam sound challenging. Are students well prepared or given multiple chances. I want to know the inside info before I invest in this school.

I really hope you have gotten your degree and passed NCLEX. It does not sound like a health environment to be in everyday. And, my god, you know everything going on at the school. Do you still have time to study?

About ATI, ummm..did you call ATI to find out the actual cost? Do you think it might be like gas, the price keeps going up?

Tranfering nursing units. Well, have you heard that rarely do any private nursing schools take a tranfer nursing student (not to mention, a dropped out nursing student.) If they don't tranfer units, probably transferrability has nothing to do with CCNE.

Speaking of Kaplan--we were told we are using kaplan too. Maybe the school took your suggestion and the nursing starts using kaplan too. thanks.

Did you pick this school to attend? You sounded so knowledgeable, and you must have made the best decision you could when you signed up for the program.

Well... no matter how mad you are, i hope you have gotten your RN by now!

Move on.
