attorney general in Cali hearing

Nurses Criminal

Published

So I have a hearing in Cali with the Attorney General with no lawyer.

I received two petty larceny charges bc of my 3 yr old in early 2012 and then a DUI in March 2013....none the less it has been YEARS since the offense to which a perfectly good explanation was provided to the board and they denied me and offered me a hearing then they said I could ask for a settlement and they SAID NOPE we can not offer you anything you need to come to the hearing.....

Im quite nervous as time is 2 days away. I do not have a lawyer.

I do not know how to go about conversating with them or what to expect?

I have been a CNA for 14 years and have a degree in healthcare admin never a flaw never a complaint ABSOLUTELY NOTHING I AM FLAWLESS.

I am however a nurse in Virginia which a multi state practice license so I can be a nurse in 24 states but my husbands military career is here in CALI. He has been recently diagnosed with SEVERE PTSD AND I HAVE BEEN APPOINTED HIS CARE TAKER as well as his grandparents care takers because of my skill and background in the medical field.

I am very worried for Friday.

Specializes in Orthopedics.

May I ask, did you already go to the hearing? When did you submit your appeal?

I'm in a similar situation. I had two felonies and 1 misdemeanor but they happened a decade ago plus I had them all expunged and I've been working as an x-ray tech for nearly 8 years.

They denied my application but said that if I signed a waiver and submitted for an appeal I would be eligible to sit for the NCLEX. So I did, I signed the waiver, sat for the NCLEX but I don't know whether I passed or failed. Now I'm just sitting here, waiting to hear from SOMEONE to tell me what's going to happen next. I called Attorney General's office but they wouldn't give me any info, they said I needed to call BRN. I called BRN, I was transferred multiple times and eventually got transferred to someone named Crystal who, conveniently, didn't answer and required me to leave a voice message.

Hope everything went well for you.

Oh **** Friday?! Yikes. It's never good to go up against the BRN without a lawyer. You can usually find someone to help you pro bono, as I did.

Email the enforcement department. You can find the email address under the BRN contact info. It usually takes 3 months to hear from the AG. You get an accusation sent to you then you request a settlement. Speak to a license lawyer or find someone pro bono ASAP. They would not negotiate the settlement offer with me until I got a lawyer.
