Attention L&D and Postpartum RNs! I need your help with a quality improvement project!

Nurses Relations

Published

Hello Maternity Nurses! My hospital has been having some trouble between our L&D and Postpartum units, mainly in the realm of transferring patients after delivery. Postpartum thinks L&D is pushy, L&D thinks Postpartum is lazy/incompetent, and the patients are getting poorer care because of it. So, my L&D unit has started a new group to brainstorm ideas of how to make the relationship with our Postpartum partners a little better.

I made a short survey to find out how other hospitals work, in the hopes that we can incorporate some of their successful practices into our own.

Please help me out! It shouldn't take too much time out of your day, and it would mean a lot to me and my coworkers. And if you happen to know any L&D/PP RNs who aren't on allnurses.com, please pass it along!

And if you don't feel like clicking through to the survey, and would rather make a comment here, just give me a brief overview of the size of your facility, how many deliveries you do each month, and what kind of L&D to PP transfer practice you have, and if they are working well for you.

THANKS AGAIN!!

I would help you out, but I feel my input won't be useful. I work in a LDRP unit, not separated by L/D and PP. We are small unit with only about 70 del/month and no Level III NICU. Just level II SCN. Sorry.

Thanks anyway! If you happen to know anyone who might want to help, please pass this along!!! I need all the responses I can get :)
