Hey there,
I'm a Goldfarb grad and there are no restrictions on employment while in school. they just strongly encourage you to not work because you have to commit a lot of your time to school. I didn't work, but there were several students in my class who were techs and they made it work. I personally couldn't imagine working because of all of the time I had to devote to simply being in class on campus, in clinicals and studying. I was also an ABSN student. Best of luck to you!
Since you don't start school till May I would definitely take the opportunity to be a PCT at Children's now because that is pretty much the only way you are going to get a job there post-graduation. I just graduated from the accelerated program and had no time to do anything but school. You have school 5 days a week sometimes from 8:00am-5:00pm. You should just let Children's know that once school starts you can only work weekends (every other weekend, if I were you). But honestly that tech experience and the connections you will make is golden. I wish I could have been a tech but I couldn't handle any extra responsibilities besides school. Good luck!

Hi! I'm starting Goldfarb's Accelerated program in May 2014. It's my understanding that, because of the fast-paced nature of the program, you are not permitted to work. However, I recently was given the opportunity to work part time at Children's as a PCT. I really want to work in pediatrics and I know this will give me a leg up in trying to get a nursing job at Children's when I graduate. Plus, I think it could really help me with the nursing program by being on the floor with other nurses. I'm wondering if this would be permitted, as long as the hours were very few?
Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks!
