Attending VMI training in May in Chicago

Published

Hi everyone!

I am very excited to be attending the VMI training in Chicago May 10-15th. However - like many others -I am nervous! I have been an RN for about 15 years. Most of that time has been spent in the hospital in L and D and in med surg. as well as Home health (the majority of it!). Last January I began completion of my BSN and will finish it in Spring of 2011. I had plans to continue on to become a DNP after that. I am still looking into it but have become very intrigued by the CLNC course and have been mulling over it for a year now. I am highly motivated and a self starter , but am concerned about ,marketing myself. I also chose the Basic package - not the VIP for financial reasons. I am thinking ahead about marketing and starting my own business. I currently am taking about 6 -8 hours a semester and work weekends only. I am giving myself a full year to make this happen before I begin a BSN - DNP program. I am wondering about help after the course and know that it is limited with the basic program. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you!

SMA4028 - Hello! I recently attended the CLNC Conference in Nashville to renew my certification. I did not get the VIP when I first started, just the basic. At the conference I heard many CLNC's state that the VIP is not what it used to be and that it is not worth it at this point. I think the biggest difference is the mentoring, which a lot of the CLNC's at the conference had trouble getting through to get mentoring at all. Apparently they did away with a lot of the benefits of the VIP, at least at the conference. I'm glad that I did not go with the VIP. I hope this helps.
