Hi!

Ive finished my curriculum for school, we were able to take our ATIs throughout the program, but I chose to save them until the end so I could refresh for my NCLEX.

Ive searched the Internet, Pinterest, anywhere I could think of to find study tips or resources and the only consistent thing I've found is to study the books. I can't even explain how BORED I am with these books!! I'm hearing the same thing from my classmates.

I've been through 4 of them, I think, and have 3 left to go (Peds, Pharm, & Med Surg). I've noticed that the topics that are covered on the Practice tests tend to be on the Proctored. It won't be the same questions, but the disorder/disease/etc will almost always be on there.

I'm working on Peds now, so I decided to take both practice tests before I even opened the book. While taking them, I take lots of notes. I use MS Word, create a table and put each disease in its own box. I read every rationale and categorize them in the box it belongs. (I hope that makes sense!) Lets say it's asking about a medication related to bipolar disorder in Mental Health. It gives you 4 options. One is correct so I would put that in the bipolar box, but the other 3 are norco (opiod/pain), metoprolol (HTN), and oxybuynin (bladder spasms). I still categorize the other 3 options because it's entirely possible there could be a question related to them on the test. (These were the first 3 meds that popped in my head! Lol!)

These tests take me about 2 hours to complete doing it this way, BUT now I have these notes so that when I read the book, I can make sure to focus on these topics when I come across them because more than likely they will come up on the proctored test.

You do whatever works for you to study, but the best thing you can do is read the books. There aren't really any other options.

If you do find something that works, I would love to hear about it!!!

I forgot to mention that I have a subscription to Picmonic.com. I use it with my ATI books to get a better understanding of the topic I'm reading & it helps me remember.

You can create an account and a get like 28 picmonic's for free. If you like it, get the subscription. I can't say enough about how much it has helped me!
