ATI practice exams-helpful for NCLEX?

I am wondering if anyone is using or has used ATI's practice exams and for NCLEX ? This has become my primary study material, as directed by my college instructors, for a successful retake of the NCLEX. I retake the exam for a second time next Thursday. I hope ATI covers the basic testing material included on the National exam. Please let me know what you think about ATI. Thanks and Good Luck to everyone taking the exam.

i am not a big fan of ati. i was spooked by their number system right before nclex. we took a comprehensive at our school, shortly after graduation. i scored in their system 98% chance of passing. i was floating. so i prepared for my nclex with ati tests,saunders and mosby's(the questions in the box). then i took the predictor that ati offers roughly a week before my nclex. i dropped from that 98% down to a 60/40% percent of passing. i almost wanted to stop right then and there, i was so close to grabbing my brass ring. i felt as though i had fallen off the horse before i got to the ring. my ati virtual tutor suggested i postpone my test for 2-3 weeks to study more. i was so upset i can't even tell you. so i went to take my nclex on my originally scheduled day and the machine stopped at 75 questions. i was glad it was over. did i think i passed?...absolutely not. i was even more depressed. so the 2 days to wait was absolute torture, i had crying jags to no end as i was certain i had failed. luckily we have quick results and i was able to find out that i did indeed pass. i was floating and truthfully still am. i really think whatever works best for you. so yes i feel for me that the study aids i used did help me with nclex but that i really should have paid less attention to that last ati number. so if that is what you are using continue to do so. i am not saying ati is a bad thing as what works for one may not work for another. just keep studying the questions and always read and try to understand the rationales for the answers. good luck!

i am sorry you did not pass. i am so tired of not knowing which method to use. i did the ati comprehensive predictor 2 wks ago and i got 99 % passing....i am taking it next thursday..right now though i am reading hurst...and it seems to narrow things down very well in an organized manner. it also gives what they seem to be helpful hints. ati is nothing like that. when are you retaking your exam?

ATI was my major preparation, through school; after that I skimmed a Kaplan book and took their two tests. I do think the ATI tests help and that the question styles are similar. (Yes, I passed.)

My LPN intructor works for ATI and has participated in writing NCLEX questions. She is also teaching our NclEX review course. She is wonderful. She has given us plenty of pointers that she has learned from ATI. I would definately use ATI as a good review for the NCLEX, it has the comprable psychometrics that the NCLEX uses and all of the questions have been through a review board before being used at ATI. It is a very reliable and comprable review for the NCLEX. Just some thoughts. HOpe it helps.

i am not saying that ati did not help. what i was saying was i was crushed by the drop in their point scoring system from may-september for my composite scores. i do like the books that ati gives you in the package and do still use them as i begin my practice in nursing. i wish you the best on your path through nclex. good luck!

It worked well for my LPN, and I am planning to use it again for my RN exam in january. I use Saunders as well.
