Math & Dosage Calculations for healthcare professionals 4th ed. By Booth, Whaley, Sienkiewicz, & Palmunen. Buy this book. It will help you with dosage. It's a silver book with pictures of pills on the front. It can teach you dimensional analysis, one of the more commonly used methods for dosage calculations. I think it costs around $50, but you can probably find it cheaper on amazon. This is the text my school uses.
Thank you so much I'm going to get that book
Frankly, I don't understand deminsional analysis...I use different methods, but it works for 99% of my classmates.
Yea we haven't gotten that far yet
Better to start now and be ahead of the game.
Lol I know ugh but I'll get it down eventually hopefully soon

All pharmacology classes feel this way. There is soooo much information to learn that the professors don't know what to do with it or how to ram it in your brain. Just keep in mind that pharmacology is more of a basis that you will build upon throughout your nursing career.
And, here is another tip... You have to teach yourself half of the information, especially with dosage calculations. My professor taught us nothing about dosage calc, but rather had us do a work book and ask her for help. I learned to love youtube to help to learn dosage calc. Simple nursing by Michael Linares has been one of my saviours!

Once you understand the basics, dosage calculations are quite simple... and from your math and science prereqs, you've probably already seen everything involved.
Regarding the pharmacology ATI exam, the best way I know to prepare is to memorize as much of the material out of the ATI book as you can... my approach was to make and use the following flashcards: https://allnurses.com/nursing-student-assistance/pharmacology-flashcards-595483.html
I'm back again Guys it hasn't gotten any better everyone in our class has an F literally everyone in Pharmacology ATI HAS AN BIG FAT F I don't understand how you are paying this much money in tuition and you have to teach yourself everything I refuse to be kicked out of a program bc the teacher doesn't want to teach we ask questions and she stares into space they give us test and the modules don't coincide with the test that we take I don't want to fail out I want to graduate I need to graduate but I need help our whole class is stressed out it's sad very said the RN program student are in the same boat as we are it's sad but I'm going to stick it out

My Pharmacology ATI is treated as a online class as well, but drug calculations is taught with my Fundamentals lab. We have 2 instructors that teach drug calc totally different. So I took 50/50 from each instructor to invent my way. The key to drug calc is finding a way that you are comfortable with.
Sent from my iPad using allnurses
Drug cal is easy I taught myself that it's the When I ask a question or anyone ask a question they leave out the room to answer the question or don't answer the question bc they don't know the answer so she'll ignore you then when you go off they think your not respecting them
