We took a critical thinking test as part of our orientation to a bsn program. I've done some online searches and couldn't find the answers I was looking for. They didn't really explain what it meant other than as a benchmark for teachers to know where you're at
From what I understand, the sole purpose of those tests is so that the instructors/Dean of Nursing can see where you started and track your progress throughout the program. My instructors told us not to worry about the initial score we got. If the school sees little to no improvement in the test scores throughout the program, they might hold a meeting with the student to see where study habits or understanding may be improved.
Lol...I forgot about that exam. I don't even remember what my score was. I do remember people in the class below me attempting to study for it...hehehe....
It looks like you're good to go already then. You'll probably be marked as an outlier since you don't really have a lot of space to move upwards to throughout the program. Good luck with everything! You're more than likely going to do amazingly well! The point of the exam is to see how developed, so to speak, your critical thinking muscles are. The nursing program is supposed to develop and exercise them. If you do worse on the exam (and didn't do well from the start), then you missed the whole critical thinking point. If you do well from the start, you have a good base to work from and you will pick up the critical thinking of nursing a lot faster.
