Anyone else get their email today? I was accepted!

Congrats Nikki,

would you, and anyone else that gets accepted (or not accepted) share their pre-req GPA and NLN score?

I had 3.4 GPA (on the 5 classes that are looked at) with a 94th percentile on the NLN.

Congratulations! That is great! I did get my email. Unfortunately, I was not accepted. So a bit bummed. If you don't mind me asking what is GPA/scores on the NLN? Just trying to get an idea of what the deciding criteria was especially since I am a previous graduate of Athens Tech. Best of luck to you in the program!!!

I did not get accepted either. I spoke with the admissions director and he said that this year they looked at GPA more than the entrance exam scores. He said the average GPA of the 50 who were accepted was 3.68.

Hey bri1307. I am sorry to hear you didn’t get in. I was really confused in the email it was stated they considered previous coursework as a reason of denial. Which I really question because that would have worked in our favor. They should probably up the minimum GPA of what they are really looking at because it seems anything under a 3.4 wasn’t even considered. What is your back up plan? I wish you the best in whatever you do.

I hate to hear that you guys got denied as well ? I'm still trying to figure out my back up plan, since it's too late to apply to most other schools. I'm considering Chamberlain though. What about y'all, Kcool17 and Anon1198?

After speaking with students who got accepted in prior years' programs, it was my understanding that more emphasis was put on the entrance exam than the GPA.

I wish they would atleast tell us our exact ranking, though.

I wish they would too. I am looking at Southern Crescent and then Chattahoochee Tech. I am now 50/50 for reapplying to Athens Tech for next year.

My main thing is that I don't want to have to wait another year to try to apply somewhere. Plus, everything is so far from where I live.

I got accepted! I'm very elated and a bit shocked. My GPA for the 5 classes was actually below 3.0 but I was in the 99th percentile on the NLN so I guess that got me in! This is actually my second year applying, and I re-took A&PII over the Fall. My English class was also an AP credit, so I was told they really only calculated 4 classes for me.

Congrats to fellow future classmates!(:

Those who didn't make it in this round, you are still bound for excellent things!! Don't give up!!

Also I don't recommend Chamberlain, I have a friend that went for 3 semesters, failed and is now 40k in debt. It's private so you will pay outrageous tuiton costs, it may be worth waiting another year and applying for ATC again! Good luck yall!

Same here bri1307! & Congrats to everyone who got accepted!

It does seem that they indeed favored the NLN scores, which contradicts what someone else said the admissions officer told them. Odd.

The admissions director, himself, told me that they put emphasis on GPA this year.
