Hi, I'm a new cna and I'm very unsure of doing a 1 assist with the transfer belt. Most of the 1 assists don't seem like they should be. I have had to pick one person completely up. The others seem to buckle when I stand them. I've been told to leave a memo for the nurse manager if i feel that a resident should be reevaluated. So far, there are 3 I feel should be reevaluated. I know the nurses wouldn't be happy with nor the other cna's, which opens up a whole new can of worms. Most of the cna's are younger and stronger than me. They just pick the people up to transfer them. Help.

You really can't be worrying about what others will think of you. You have two priorities. Keep your residents safe and keep yourself safe.

This is a sticky issue. As another respondent stated, the goal is to keep yourself and residents safe.
But yes, if others are saying they can transfer people, safely, one-on-one, then you may need to evaluate your transfer abilities or technique or you run into the issue, which you've already hit, of 'others' being able to do something, but you can't.
You stated you were new. I had the same issues being new. I was actually stronger than some of the people doing one-on-one transfers, but didn't have the techniques down. A lot of it is speed - you don't actually hold someone's weight more than a second if you're transferring correctly (meaning you have proper positioning of yourself and resident).
Ask ---- most other CNA's are willing to help you if you admit you're having difficulty doing something they can do.
Make sure the issue isn't technique, rather than strength.
