Aspiring CRNA student

Hi Everyone, is there any one in here that’s a CRNA in Texas or a SRNA that could answer the pondering dilemma am in? I know most schools require a 3.5gpa or greater. I am in a accelerated BSN program and still a full time worker(I have too), my gpa is low at the moment at 3.3 and I graduate next spring semester. My fall semester grades are not looking too friendly. My grades are all B’s. What can I do if I am not able to get 3.5gpa requirements? CRNA as been my passion for years and hate that gpa might stop or not make that happen for me. Some say I should have gone ADN-BSN route instead of BSN. But am hoping there’s someone in this group who went straight BSN with points lower than 3.5 who still got into CRNA school and won’t mind shedding more knowledge on it.

Thank you!

3.0 is the minimum requirement. Many people have gotten in with lower than a 3.5.

Oh!. A lot of schools am looking at requirements are 3.5gpa or higher. So that got me worried. Thank you for your insight!

Why are you getting poor grades? You need to be able to be objective with yourself. Only you know the answer to this question, as there can be several reasons, and some of them are quite reasonable. CRNA school is exponentially more difficult than a BSN. I mean, it can be really, really hard. If you cannot, for whatever reason, get fairly high grades in a BSN program, which are very easy and filled with fluff, why do you think you will succeed in a CRNA/DNP program? Getting into school should probably NOT be your priority at this time. Finish your BSN, get at least THREE years of solid ICU experience, and during this time, take a few difficult graduate level classes, maybe statistics, maybe Biochem, maybe physiology, or pharmacology, and prove to yourself that you can do well in these classes, as you will be taking four of them at the same time once in a program. If you do well in these, it will go a long way to getting accepted into a program.

Good Luck.

Hi thank you for your reply as said in my post I work minimum of 36 hours. I am not in a bridge program that is I didn’t go from ADN -BSN to have a fluff. I went to a 3 year accelerated BSN program. Yes I know my grades are not as well as I want it to be, but I am quite sure of my capabilities to handle a CRNA program. Also I don’t know if this is across the border but my school uses a 4.0 gpa scale which I have a gpa of 3.3/4.0 scale. Once again thanks for your reply.
