Hi,
I have a ADN and am a new grad RN. I am currently in RN-BSN program right now (finishing Dec. 2020). I was wondering if I should start out in homecare before acute care? I am having trouble getting into acute care because most places require a BSN unless you have some connections. The hospital where I did clinical is not necessarily hiring new grads right now. Would I be considered a new grad after completing my BSN, but with RN experience?
Thank You

Home health is not recommended for a new grad for a number of reasons. There do tend to be more people who want acute care jobs than there are jobs available, at least in many of the major cities around the US. Consider moving for an opportunity, particularly to rural areas, who have fewer new grads to choose from.
No, you will not be considered a new grad all over again once you have your BSN. You get one year from the time you pass NCLEX to be seen as a new grad. After that you are either an "old" new grad (if you have never worked) or an experienced RN.
