I am teaching nursing in Japan, and I 'd like to discuss with others and/or
ask opinions regarding the best way to let the students write pt's info on the note while doing some case studies, and the best way to dispose the info after finishing the study and practice. My questions are: 1) How do you dispose the private informations after you finished the study. 2) Do students allow to take a note and write informations like pt's name, age, date of surgery done, name of the hosp ? or 3) You tell the students to write false name on the note? Doesn't it make confusions while doing several case studies?
Pls tell me how we can protect the patients' informations while our students are on practice.

You just use initials...................no full names are printed. Even when the student is doing a presentation, just initials should be used for patient confidentiality.

Initials are case study numbers with a master list (which number is which patient) - when all done sherd or put in a sherd box
Thanks. We have decided to collect the note the students made, and to be shredded after finishing the study.
