Arterial Line dressings

Published

Does anyone use a dressing other than plain tegaderm for arterial lines?

After we pull femoral lines on my floor we use 4x4s. Usually put a pressure dressing made out of 4x4s taped down with silk tape or elastiplast depending on the doctor. This is for the docs that close using manual pressure and his usually come back with lines because he gives them quite a bit of heparin.

The other docs use perclose or minx and they come to our floor from the cath lab with a few 4x4s covered with a clear bandage. Don't have to do anything special with them...usually change the dressing to a bandaid after 3-4 hours.
