i have a question about joining the rotc.... here is a little background:
i'm 24, married and about to finish a LPN program. I start a BSN program in the fall, where I have about 3 years left due to previous undergrad coursework completion. I also plan to start a masters program as soon as possible once I complete the BSN. I would really like to get my masters as soon as possible. I come from a military family and a lot of military friends so I haven't contacted the recruiter yet. Seems I don't have a lot of trust in their answers. And I can't seem to find exact answers for my questions on their websites.
So my questions are:
Can I do the ROTC thing even if I'm not a freshman?
Can I go into reserves/national guard out of ROTC so that I can pursue my masters? How supportive are they? Can I be deployed while in school?
Is anyone on this board an army nurse who has been deployed to Iraq? I'm not really too concerned about deployment, but I am curious as to what deployed nurses have experienced or what kind of things they do.
Also, my family is very against me joining. My younger brother went through ROTC and was commissioned two years ago and they don't want another kid going. Not to mention my husband isn't at all thrilled with the prospect. Has anyone ever dealt with that?
Any resposes would be appreciated, sorry for the super long post!
