  1. thanks! yeah, i saw that thread, but it seemed like most people didn't have all the non-nursing classes done when they started EC so i was wondering about how long it takes if you did have them done....
  2. i'm deciding on whether or not to do EC...and i was wondering if anyone had any idea how long it might take me...i was planning on doing the LPN-ASN and then do ASN-BSN in a brick and morter... pending transfer credit, i already have all of the non nursing requirements (micro, a&p, psych, soc, humanities, electives) so i'm figuring it might not take me all that long.... thanks!
  3. hey all! i just finished a practical nursing program and am looking at applying to EC for the LPN to ASN after i take (and hopefully pass) the boards. how do i go about finding if my state licenses EC grads? also...i am only really thinking about doing this because LPN-RN programs in my area are hard to come by and i don't want to move. however RN-BSN programs are everwhere and i inevitably want to do a masters program. so my next question is - how well does EC go with doing a RN-BSN in a "normal" university? and will doing the associates through EC possibly hurt my grad school chances? i'd appreciate any help! thanks!
  4. Again, I'm not saying that I don't want or need his support and perhaps I came across stronger than I would have liked regarding that. That wasn't really the main focus of my questions. I was just wondering if anyone had dealt with that themselves.
  5. thanks for your reply. i'm not entirely too concerned about my husband, to be honest. he supports most of what i do, as far as school and work. i know he will probably not take it well, if i do decide to go the army route, however i'm not one to not do something because someone (and it doesn't matter who) doesn't want me to. i hope that doesn't sound too harsh, i truly love my husband and care what he thinks but i'm a firm believer that it's my life and i have to do what makes me happy. not to mention, he isn't the one paying for my school or loans or finding me a job either. haha
  6. i have a question about joining the rotc.... here is a little background: i'm 24, married and about to finish a LPN program. I start a BSN program in the fall, where I have about 3 years left due to previous undergrad coursework completion. I also plan to start a masters program as soon as possible once I complete the BSN. I would really like to get my masters as soon as possible. I come from a military family and a lot of military friends so I haven't contacted the recruiter yet. Seems I don't have a lot of trust in their answers. And I can't seem to find exact answers for my questions on their websites. So my questions are: Can I do the ROTC thing even if I'm not a freshman? Can I go into reserves/national guard out of ROTC so that I can pursue my masters? How supportive are they? Can I be deployed while in school? Is anyone on this board an army nurse who has been deployed to Iraq? I'm not really too concerned about deployment, but I am curious as to what deployed nurses have experienced or what kind of things they do. Also, my family is very against me joining. My younger brother went through ROTC and was commissioned two years ago and they don't want another kid going. Not to mention my husband isn't at all thrilled with the prospect. Has anyone ever dealt with that? Any resposes would be appreciated, sorry for the super long post!
