Army reserve weekend hours

So Im waiting for my packet to clear but I passed the medical. Im curious if anyone knows what the hours are like in the army reserves? Im in Miami and the recruiter told me I could be at the VA and I would work a regular shift and go home on saturdays and sundays. Im curious what everyones hours are like when they do their 1 weekend a month with the reserves. Do you guys get out on time? The hospital I work at the shift is 7-7:23 but get out at like 8-8:30 so I was wonderin if its the same at the VA or other reserve locations. Also, are the 2 days a month flexible or is it a set date and it has to be weekend? Does anyone think I would be able to work my 2 days a month on a mon-fri basis? Thanks

This is not a good answer to your question but what hours you drill and how flexible they are on weekend depends on the unit and their training schedule. On a drill weekend you are paid for 4 drills, 2 each day which have a min. time of 4 hours. But 1 drill can also last upto 24 hours.

From my experience 95% of the time you are only drilling for 8 hours on each day and get to go home at night. But like I state there have been times where we went to the field, range etc. and spent the night there and ran ops thru out the night.

If you know which unit you would be assigned too ask the recruiter to find out what weekend they drill and ask him/her to take you there so you can speak with some of the nurses in the unit.
