Newly hire for Phoenix Children's Hospital (CNA)

U.S.A. Arizona

Hi, Im new to Phoenix AZ, and i will start working at Phoenix Children's Hospital this upcoming Monday. I was wondering if anyone on here has any experience in the Med surg/ GI ENDO unit. any tips? Also I will start my nursing program jan 6 2014 and I'm wondering if they offer tuition reimbursement... and I'm just excited and curious to know what my uniform color will be as a pct or cna. I was told the nurses and cna's are allowed to wear any type of print scrubs. is that true? if so i can't wait to start wearing the kid friendly scrub tops with spongebob and stuff on them:)

Congrats fellow coworker! Yes anyone can wear any scrubs they want. You can even wear PCH logo tshirts. The only department to go to a uniform is the ED.As for that floor you have many wonderful nurses, and fellow techs. With that said get ready...GI patients and families and doctors are very needy to say the least. GI patients are time consuming and sometimes confuse the hospital for a hotel. I promise its a common thought among coworkers. As for tuition , they do offer it and its GREAT. For fulltime they offer 5300 a year, you just have to pass with a C or higher. Part time is like 3k or so, I am not positive on it. You just have to have the required documentation in five days before the start of class ( and they are strict on that). I added you as a friend, so we can talk more. I was a PCT with staffing for a long time, and recently transferred to the ER out to the urgent care, but i still pick up PCT shifts at the main campus. You will love PCH, many great coworkers, kids are great and the benefits are pretty good too.

You guys are the best! I was a heart patient at PCH and everyone from Nurses to NPs to PAs to Doctors to CNAs etc were so so compassionate and caring. I also noticed that their scrubs were all sorts of colors and patterns. My nurse wore a very punny heart-related t shirt ("We've got the beat"), which I thought was hilarious. edna, you're gonna love it there :)

Hello:) im sooo happy for you! My main goal is to work at PCH! I recently signed up to be a voulnteer do you think that i can get hired faster as a pct and what requietments will i need to apply? Im currently a cna nd certified in pct! Iv checked out the website but they are not hireing:( how did you apply? Thankyou soo much i would appreciate the help:)

Hi Liz_Love21 i hope you are working as a PCT at PCH now. Sorry i am responding so late. hopefully you read this. I applied randomly one night and i was offered the night shift but i declined since i was attending school and they called me back offering me day shift the following day. I been told it is super hard to get in but i think you are on the right track with volunteering, it is definitely a foot in the door:) good luck. let me know if any luck...
