Arimidex Hair loss

Published

I am a pre-nursing student (starting nursing school fall 2012) and was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago. I have not gotten a good answer elsewhere on the internet, nor from my oncologist, but I am hoping maybe some experienced oncology nurses, with your different viewpoint on your patients, may know:

I have been on generic anastrozole for a year, and before that I was on Aromasin for a year. I am starting to develop male pattern baldness, the M shaped hairline going back sharply at the temples and slightly across the forehead. So far the top is still reasonably thick. In your experience, is this hair loss permanent, or does it grow back when people go off the medication? If it usually grows back, I can live with it, but if it is going to be permanent, then I need to seriously discuss treatment alternatives at my next visit.
