Aria Health School of Nursing accepted for the Fall of 2016

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello Aspiring Nursing Students,

My name is Michaella & last week I was accepted into the Aria Health School of Nursing Fall cohort. I just received my acceptance letter last week & I hope this thread is extended to those who got their response from Aria as well. It would be nice to get familiar with one another before the program starts & update one another on how we are coming along in preparation of the program. Well, I hope everyone enjoys their day & I am excited to hear from my soon to be fellow classmates!

Best,

Michaella

Congrats. I applied to Aria as well but i havent heard anything as yet.

Thank you so much! When did you have your stuff in by? I received my letter the 21st. Please keep me posted, have my fingers crossed for you!

I also applied for Aria fall of 2016! Had my application put in on the 18th, however I learned a few days later that my FBI fingerprints were from department of education instead of human services.. so that set my back a week or so.. Just dropped off the right prints the other day so my application is complete! When did you have all your documents submitted?

I am nervous because I didn't score high on the teas 63 first time 62 second and have a cumulative gpa of 3.3 but all As in my nursing pre reqs so I hope they base just off nursing.. How were your gpa and teas score if you don't mind me asking?

Haha just realized you posted on my thread already... Read the name completely wrong! Disregard my comment lol

I sent in all my information by the 25th of January. My GPA is 3.79 and I scored a 63 on the TEAS test. I am really nervous. I am gonna call them just to see.

A 3.79 is incredible you should be so confident, I promise. As I mentioned that teas is only one factor

Hi everyone! Congrats on your acceptance and if you haven't received a letter yet don't worry! It takes time! My names Faithe and I started Aria in Jan...so I a going into my second term on Monday into N111 (Med Surg)...I figured I would pop on here to give you guys a run down or answer questions you might have. I remember when I was waiting and I wished I had someone to talk to who went there! Soo....N110 is awesome...I know they are changing the curriculum for new students come Sept so I doubt it will be the same but I can say that it takes a lot of study time and hard work. Link up with upper classman for books if you can as well. I was able to do that and it saved me a TON of money...books are about 500 and up a semester so use amazon and freebee hand me downs when you can! Don't get anything e-book, its super annoying...you will have penn state classes as well...anyone have a college background already or first timers? Make sure you get all of your clearances and immunizations done early and on time (they don't play around with that)...apply for Pa state grant now (a lot of people missed out on it because they didn't apply) and invest in some comfy white nursing shoes now lol...your going to need it! I'm sure I will see you around the school (I'm running for VP and hopefully get it so I can work with a lot of you and show you the ropes) anyways, I'm here so ask away....BTW ::::: I got into this school with a 3.0 and a 62 on my teas....so don't worry :)

Hi Faithe nice to meet you! How are you liking the program in general so far? I am so nervous/excited to start! What is your schedule ususally like so we know what to expect. I am coming in with all of my sciences and general pre-reqs out of the way so I am hoping I can be done in 7 terms! Are you staying at Aria to do the Penn State BSN program? How does that work? Sorry to ask so many questions!! Do you get to pick your classes at orientation? Thanks in advance!! Also are you working through the program and if so how many hours do you/other classmates suggest is do-able while going through the program.

Hello! I love it! Its fast paced and you learn an awful lot the first term...but Kerri and Carly are awesome! That's who you will have in N110. I took my pre reqs and sciences but did not take Pharm so I have to do a rotation at penn state in sept...which sucks because it puts me behind a semester but half the class has to do that as well. There are a lotttt of other classes you have to take because YOU ARE IN THE BSN PROGRAM at Penn when you enter your foot in the door...you don't have an option. So many people thought they could finish in 7 terms and its really turning into 8 or 9 (like me). But we are all on our own path so everyones schedule is different. I did not get to pick my own classes...actually you never do haha...so get used to that! I have a tough schedule this ter, : N111 (Med Surg), micro, and patho.....doesn't sound like a lot..but nursing class is two classes a week and two clinicals a week...its a 10 credit course!! its a lot!! But yea I am getting my BSN with Aria...its faster, cheaper, and more convenient to be honest with you. I am working...two days a week 10 hours total...I also have two kids ages 3 and 4 so honestly I could not handle more than that...I can hardly handle the 10 hrs a week...most of the time I am sobbing hahaha....but its ok....TIME MANAGEMENT is key!!! get a good planner and use that baby all the time! It will save your life! I know of people who work more than me but they struggle...and I also know a lot of people who don't work at all...its really about our personal life and what you can handle...hey some people have to work full time! but shhh...don't say that out loud because if you fail and that's the reason...your in trouble....so yea...other than that...its an amazing school...its up to date....great clinical locations...learn lots and lots and lotssss of stuff and by the end of the semester youll feel like a nurse....some what haha...bare with n110..its gerontology....NO YOUR WHOLE STAY AT ARIA WILL NOT LOOK LIKE THAT...some people thought they would be wipping butts and doing CNA stuff through out school...and didn't make it because they hated it..but don't worry! the fun stuff comes at the end when your doing wound care and then get to n111 where your giving meds and stuff.....I do suggest maybe getting into CNA work...it helped me tremendously! I knew what I was doing through out n110....it also gave me patient experience...ya know how to talk to a patient, touch, ect. Just made it easier.

Okay sounds like a lot but hey it's nursing school! Now are you allowed to take Penn State classes with the nursing courses or they are their own separate rotation? For example the way my first semester is all I will have to take is Nursing 110 since I already took anatomy that it is laid out on the course plan, so I was hoping I could take some of the Penn State requirements with that! For the grant do you have to apply separately or is it included in the FASFA? I just got my financial aid packet yesterday and was awarded for the Pell grant and Federal Direct loan, but no PHEAA :( And you said 8-9 semesters is that for the diploma only or for the BSN? I know the BSN is an extra term so I'm hoping for 7 terms for diploma then the extra term for the BSN! Ugh this stuff is so stressful and it's only beginning haha!
