Okay, in a nutshell, I applied for a job within my organization. I have had 3 interviews. The director called my boss and basically told her they were going to hire me. every day I have gone in to work and my boss is waiting for me to giver her my notice, and I am waiting for the offer....To say it will be uncomfortable after all of this hoopla if I don't get it is an understatement. Has anyone gone through something like this, and how did it turn out???

It sounds like its a done deal. They are just waiting on you to act. If you really want the job go for it. If not tell both the interviewer and your boss. There shouldn't be a problem unless you did something to really mess things up.
Thanks! I keep going through it all in my mind and I can't see where I might have messed it up...but who really knows until you get THE OFFER??

I would assume that it is all hearsay until you see it in writing, or at least a verbal offer. How else are you to know they are serious? They can't expect you to quit your secure job without some sort of commitment from them right?

The only other thing you could do, other than just waiting for them to offer you the job....is to call the Director that you interviewed with, as a "follow up" call; thank her for taking the time to interview you, let her know you are available if she has any other questions, etc. That would prompt her to either offer you the job or tell you that they've gone w/another candidate. Sometimes/usually you get their voicemail, so you could just leave the same message....but stress that you are definitely still interested and would like to hear back from her regarding her decision.
Good luck!
