Yes, there are actually Rehabilitation Hospitals. That might be something to look into.
thats awesome! wut type of rehab nursing do you do?
Primarily stroke rehabilitation, orthopedic , traumatic brain injury, COPD, some cardiac, debility due to multiple co-morbidities many dialysis patients with complications due to co-morbidities, complicated wounds, etc. Isolation patients with generalized debility. It keeps us on our toes. We jokingly call ourselves closer to being a step down unit. As our acuity is very close to it. The only thing we do not yet have our tele beds, though they have talked of putting them in.
So do you do physical therapy like work with patients? Also wut kind of degree do you need under nursing?

I work on a rehab floor in a long term care facility. I love it because there is so much to learn and your get to see a variety of patients. Patients stay anywhere from a few weeks to several months so you don't get burnt out on your assignment as easily as you would on a regular floor in long term care. Most of my patients need skilled care with IV medications, major wound treatments, and never ending assessments.
TwinJeep,
In our Rehabilitation Hospital, we have multidisciplines who work with our patients. Physcial Therapist, Occupational therapists, Recreational Therapists, the various PTA, COTA, ( which are the aides to the prior meaning they do not have 4 year degrees or masters) Then there is the Nursing staff which consists of RN's who are encouraged to become Certified after 2 years of working in Rehab. LPN's like myself , certified nursing assistants.
