So much for a recession-proof profession, eh? I wish the best to all of those employees (especially the nurses) - I hope they're able to get back to work soon!
Anybody here involved and want to share?

I heard they are protesting and trying to prevent the closer of both hospitals

NY1 shows the protest. Sad-my sister was born in Mary Immaculate and I know a few staff at the St. John's ER that are affected.

I did my clinicals at both hospitals while at SVCMC. I am glad that I did not take a job with them when I graduated, lots of my classmates did. Also another hospital I did clinicals with for them, St Mary's in Brooklyn closed a few years back too. So sad.
I know a nurse - she per diems at my hospital - who worked full time at Mary Immaculate for 20+ years. She and other colleagues are back on the job market - some of them the first time since graduation! She can't believe that after this long she's "looking for work" ...
She says all the new grads in the area have some fierce competition right now.
