Are you required to use Google Docs in your graduate program?

Published

I have been tasked with researching these questions by a faculty member at my graduate school of nursing. If you could please complete my quick two-question survey regarding the use of Google Docs in your graduate nursing program that would be greatly appreciated:

Question 1: Does your graduate nursing school require you to use Google Docs when writing your papers and assignments?

Question 2: If your graduate nursing school has a policy or statement surrounding the use of Google Docs for your papers or assignments, please provide the link below.

1.  No.

When I attended East Crolina University, an annual subscription to Microsoft 365 was provided to all students.  And, I believe they still do.

1. No longer a student (graduated in Summer 2025), but I've heard from some mentees that some classes require it now.

2. Don't have the policy bc no longer a student.

From what I understand, policies like these are intended to mitigate AI-generated plagiarism. The staff can see how quickly sections of text were generated versus copy-pasted. Similarly to what the previous poster said, a student subscription to Microsoft 365 was provided when I was a student. I'm not sure if that is still the case, but I don't know why they would change it.
