I have a few questions about enrollment. I want to apply in the Fall to the nursing schools (both ASN & BSN) programs in NYC and LI. I hold a non science-related BA degree and am changing careers. I am taking pre-req. courses in the spring at NCC to both speed up and reduce debt in case I only get accepted into private schools. I am taking AP1, micro, and sociology (11 credits worth). If I take more pre-req's then these (say, about 18 credits worth), is there a good chance that all the required pre-req's will get transferred into any new nursing program? I know that Molloy accepts about 98 transfer credits. Thanks.

yes, there is a chance. However, to get a definite answer, it is best to call the school you are interested in applying to and they will be able to tell you which course is transferable.

My nursing school accepted all of my previous college credits but like the person above said, best to check with the specific schools you're considering.
Good luck!

You have to ask each specific school. Some of them will take all pre-reqs, as long as their course description matches the one in the program you'll be entering. Be careful with your sciences (try to get A&P I and II from the same school, make sure they are 4 credit courses with a lab) and watch out for growth & development courses (I know NCC offers a child development that does not transfer to some schools that require a lifespan course).
I know Molloy allows one of the highest # of credits transferred in, which is great. Keep in mind though, that if you did have 98 credits going in, you do not need for them to accept all of them (because a good # of them will be worthless in a BSN program). Molloy requires 6 or 9 credits of theology AND philosophy (at least they did a few years back), so you'd have to take them anyway, regardless of what you have going into the program.
