NYC hospitals do pay more than LI hospitals but the cost of the commute will probably off-set most of the pay difference. I just left a job in the city and currently work in a hospital on LI and I saved alot of money from the commute as well as time. I used to commute a total of 3 hrs a day and now it's 30 minutes a day! :)

When you say NYC, do you mean that hospitals in Manhattan pay the most or all 5 boroughs? And thanks for your answer :)

I just read from one of the threads that "all grads" hope to get into a NYC hospital, but one poster suggested that the op should try to get experience at one of the LI hospitals in the meantime. I'm currently a nursing student, but I wonder: Why are the NYC hospitals preferred over the LI hospitals if this is true? Is it because they have a better union, or? I'm just curious since that's news to me. I live on LI.
