Are nurses allowed to do research on their floor?

Hi all! I am an ER nurse with no research background. I was wondering if any of you knew if we were allowed to do research on our floor with management permission. I am specifically looking to do documentary research on my floor to show the efficacy or inefficiency in something through documentation. Any feedback would be great. Thank you.

There is nothing in law, regulation, or codes of ethics that would expressly forbid it, if that's what your asking. 

 

There's lots of nuance and criteria in each of those but nothing that says it can't be done in the location where you work.

 A lot of instances you would need approval from the IRB to perform research.
