Are there any mothers attending a part time program?

Hi, I am applying to nursing school for Fall 2013 and I'm debating if I should attend full time or part time. My kids will be 3, 4, and 6 when I start the program. I just want to get an idea of the school schedule part time and if it is easier to manage family and school. Thank you.

I had a 22 month old and a 4 month old when I began nursing school. I was in an evening part time program. I received pretty much straight As. It is definitely doable if you do not have a job and have a very supporting partner

Did you take 2 classes each semester? Thank you for responding.

I started my prereqs 2 years ago and for 4 semesters I took 2 classes at a time. I went to school 1 night a week. When I started my kids were 5, 3 and 10 months. It was very doable. I received all As with a couple Bs. I also work a full time job. I do have it easier than others though because I work at home as a medical transcriptionist, but I still put in my 40 hours a week. I am pregnant right now and I will be starting the nursing program this Fall. I am not too concerned though because I have all my prereqs out of the way. All I have left are the actual nursing classes and clinics, which is actually just 1 lecture class that will be held 2 nights a week and 1 night of clinic for the first semester, and then same for the last 3 semesters except 2 nights of clinic. It will be hard for me though because I will be gone 3-4 nights a week compared to 1, but they will be home with their father so I am not worried. I think it would have been too much though if I would have gone full time. I could not imagine taking 5 classes. I do not think I could have ever done it. I would suggest just doing part-time. Maybe start off with 2 classes and after 1 semester if you feel you can handle more, then add another class or 2.

I work a full-time job plus I have a now-12yo son who plays sports and I'm in the last year of a part-time ADN program. There's no way I'd be able to handle being a good mom while doing our full-time program. Just for a semester or two it would probably be doable, but for a full program, you'd just be setting yourself up for failure IMO.

I have a 17th month old and just finished my second full-time semester. I do not work though so that is the only way I could even think about managing that > I start my second semester of actual nursing classes in August.
