Did any of you, or anyone you know ever manage to get a job with any type of criminal record?

My story: Currently in my 2nd week of nursing school, on my cross country road trip to start school, I was

given a ticket for misdemeanor attempted possession of drug paraphernalia.

I had a marijuana pipe on me,but keep in mind, earlier in the year I was prescribed medical marijuana to combat the adverse effects of a treatment I was going through. If my prescription was still valid, I would not have this issue, but it expired about 2 months before the incident, and I had just hung onto the pipe.It was packed up with my belongings. Long story short, I got the ticket for the pipe, I was never arrested or fingerprinted, and I ended up getting convicted, but the conviction was later on changed to a dismissal. (no actual expungement in this state, but their version of it. ) So now, on a background check for me, the charge comes up, but with a status of dismissed.

I know there is no way to know for sure, but Im still pretty early in my program and I would hate to put in all this work and money to not find a job. Im not worried about getting the license, just a job.

In your opinions, would you go through with school?

Do you know any stories of people finding jobs with records?

Would you bring up the medical marijuana prescription to explain having the pipe, or would that just make you look worse?
