Are Doctor's in the operating room mean?

Published

Hi, I wanted to know more above CRNA and the environment for operating room nurses. Are the doctor mean to the nurses. There is this old stereotype , that all the doctors with the worst attitude and worst people skills, become surgeons. For those of you who work in the operating room, what is it like working with surgeons and what's the overall environment like?

Well, just like everywhere else, some are and some aren't.

If you've worked as a nurse then you know the environment for the most part. All the same stuff goes on just like any other unit. As far as MDAs and Surgeons go, some are quiet and some aren't; some love students, and some don't allow students in the room. And the same MDAs like students and some don't. Some let you do your own thing and other may micromanage. This is the way it is, you either get used to it and play along or don't go into anesthesia. That stereotype maybe true for some people. Although you will find people who defy the stereotype and are the complete opposite who love to teach and help you to understand why things are done a certain way.
